Global player chooses Lower Austria. Once again.

Jungbunzlauer* continues to maintain its production site in Lower Austria and is now going one better. To meet the growing global demand for citric acid in products ranging from food and beverages to detergents and industrial applications, Jungbunzlauer Holding AG is building a new citric acid plant in Lower Austria.

Second site in Bergern

The new building is to be constructed on the Danube in Bergern, Lower Austria, and will use the existing expertise and resources of the current plant in Pernhofen (also in Lower Austria).
The new site will be bursting with state-of-the-art technology. According to Jungbunzlauer, energy-efficient production and minimal greenhouse gas emissions will set new standards.

CEO Tom Knutzen comments: “This is a major and exciting undertaking for Jungbunzlauer. It is a testament to our successful organic growth over the years, based on the expansions of our plants in Western Europe and North America, and the continued close collaboration with our customers, which include some of the largest consumer product manufacturers.”

At the end of 2020, Jungbunzlauer successfully passed the necessary environmental impact assessment and, at the same time, completed the detailed design of the plant as well as the associated infrastructure.
Implementation is thus making excellent progress – it is expected that the plant will be ready in just a couple of years.

Another investment by the international chemical industry in Lower Austria. And yet another element added to the rapidly expanding periodic table of successful business in Lower Austria.
