Lower Austria once again "European Region of the Future
This year, Lower Austria was once again able to score internationally with flexible location marketing and the comprehensive support of direct investments by ecoplus. The result: 4th place in the category BEST MID SIZED REGION FOR FDI STRATEGY at the European Regions of the Future 2022/23 Awards.
For this purpose, the Financial Times’ fDi magazine awards the most promising EU cities and regions for foreign direct investment (FDI for short) every two years. “Our business location offers the best possible framework conditions and is therefore also interesting for investments: Starting with the top infrastructure, political stability and the economic dynamics that can be felt in our province – Lower Austria impresses with its location and diversity,” says Jochen Danninger, Provincial Councillor Lower Austria for Economy, Tourism and Sport, with conviction.
The intensive campaign work and support for international investors in particularly challenging times are also visible in the placement. Lower Austria improved its ranking by 6 places compared to two years ago (10th place in 2020/21) and this year left economically strong regions such as Zurich, Manchester or the Basque Country behind in the evaluation.
In total, investment flows from over 553 locations in Europe were used for the awards. Of which 367 cities and 148 regions. In addition, a jury of experts for the FDI Strategy section evaluated the respective measures, as well as their resilience and sustainability*.
Lower Austria is thus quite rightly considered a future-oriented and reliable business location. It will consistently pursue this successful path.
The awards ceremony took place on 15 March during the MIPIM real estate fair in Cannes.
