Market leading WITTMANN Group invests 14 Mio. € in Lower Austrian production plant.

Defying the Corona crisis, Wittmann Battenfeld not only continues to produce in Lower Austria, but also continues to invest in the Kottingbrunn site, which has been in operation for more than a decade and contributes significantly to the international success of the WITTMANN Group.

Continuous improvements
In order to increase efficiency in the production, the company tackled the renewal and optimisation of existing infrastructure, as well as the expansion of the machine park at the Kottingbrunn site, home to the Group’s headquarters for development, production and sales of injection moulding machines.

Starting with the 2,200 m² expansion of the assembly hall in 2018, the company now focuses on a fully automatic pallet rack warehouse with approx. 1,500 pallet spaces. the company now focuses on a fully automatic pallet rack warehouse with approx. 1,500 pallet spaces. For this purpose, an extension with an area of around 3,000 m² was initiated in May 2021, and will be ready for operation in 2023.

Comeback after the Corona-Crisis
Wittmann Battenfeld was not spared from the Covid-19 crisis either, suffering a turnover decline in early 2020. But the Company reacted fast and established strict hygiene and safety measures to keep up the production and the investment projects.

According to Rainer Weingraber, CEO, order intake returned to its usual level in the third Quarter of 2020 and even reached new heights from the 4th Quarter onwards.

Asking about the future of the production plant in Lower Austria, Mr. Weingraber responded:

“Of course, there are plans for further investment projects at the Kottingbrunn site, which will be planned and tackled in detail after the completion of the current investment phase.”
